[spore]adicity addresses the concept of dynamic absolute permanence by proposing an aggregate based urbanism derived from the 1960's metabolist movement. As the urban growth is meant to occur organically, reacting to the present condition ad infinitum, the scale through which this growth occurs must be smaller and more personal than the superstructures proposed my metabolists. A micro rather than a macro process. As such, [spore]adicity refers to a city generated by the sporadic additions of spore like units, parasites that function more efficiently the more they conjoin.

Architecture as a prosthetic. The project focuses on the development of a skin that affects both the exterior and interior readings of the space by reinterpreting contextual data through layers of transparency and refraction to blur spatial boundaries and distort our sense of proprioception.

Balloon Learning Environment is meant to provide spaces for both active and passive learning. Instead of just one structure on a single site, the “Bubbles” are floating pavilions that freely traverse the campus: a series of decentralized sites, tied down at local hubs of circulation. The projection of information from lecture halls to the most distant balloon serves to break down the physical boundaries of the campus as well as the typological condition of “information silos” that exists within the university. By projecting information as visual data to be passively absorbed while also providing spaces below for more active participation, the bubbles float around campus as the ultimate form of multidisciplinary engagement.
